another night in the garage 7/26/13 (done on 7/25)

For the fourth time in 5 days, I found myself in the garage after 10pm...and it's exhausting. I only really wanted to do the barbell work for the following days workout and the strength work early the following morning. Knowing how much I enjoy sleeping, I knew I was unlikely going to get my hatch in on Friday before I left for Vegas. So I did that on Thursday evening too.

Got to play with these pull rack things I bought the other day. I'm not really certain that I'm using them for their intended purpose, but they're doing the job. It just gets really sketchy bringing the weight down from any height.

7/24/13 training

I'm not really sure why, but I needed a new bar. After careful consideration I went with the Nexgen Bearing Bar from Pendlay.com. <<<So when I went to go find the link to the bar just now, I noticed they not only have new end caps, but they're also marked down 15%. This is a considerable amount considering the price of the bar. I've emailed to see if they would be able to give me a price adjustment. You should go buy one, it's a deal right now>>> The first thing I noticed about the bar when I pulled it from it's packagin was the considerable amount of whip it had compared to my rogue bar - you could hear it. I used the bar in the workout below, but the combination of fatigue and the bar feeling greasy kept me from noticing much difference during actual movements.

Felt good today. Really wanted to get to 185 for the 3 position, but my grip failed me.

late night RYMCA sesh 7/23/13

Continuing with the outlaw barbell training, I've realized why the recommending breaking the day's workout into two sessions. They're both time consuming and taxing. On paper it really doesn't look like much, but in practice it's rough and I'm feeling it both physically and mentally.

The only things pictured in the video below are the barbell exercises. I worked up to 155 and failed on my 3-pos attempt at 175. I used 140 for the 90% of max effort (155x.90=139.5). Fatigue started to set in on the third set of four, completely giving up on the 4th and final set.

Restarted hatch at my true 1RM of 265 and didn't have time for the jerk balances (tbh there wasn't even enough time for Bed Bath and Beyond).

I did the Barbell session 3 hours after the Strength session. While I think that's plenty of time in between workouts, i'll likely try to do the BB work before the strength work for the day going forward.

Spencer Arnold mentioned that these sessions should take approximately 3 hours in total. This is going to be a huge adjustment, but I'm willing to try anything to help increase my strength.

#RYMCA

Super secret training has begun at CF RYMCA. I've recently investment in some upgrades to my garage gym. While Rogue Fitness competition style plates, a new Pendlay bearing bar and a lifting platform may not be necessary at my current level, they're all nice additions that will keep me motivated and help me improve.

I'm running low on my CrossFit kool-aid so for the next few weeks I'll be following www.theoutlawway.com's oly specific programming, a combination of OL's BBG programming and Spencer Arnold's Arnold method.

I'll be using youtube as a video workout log and posting here. It should be funsies!
